Suilad mellyn!

With BETA upon us, many decisions lay ahead for the future of the kinship. But, rest assured, that these changes will be ones that will bring the kinship closer together. Of course I am discussing how the kinship is going to prepare for BETA and of the organization of the kinship itself. As always, these are matters that will be decided by the kinship as a whole. Yet, we have plenty of time to discuss such matters on the forums. Instead, let us focus on the joyous news I have in store.

Aleena and Arathul, not only both have the letter "A" as the first letter in their names, but they have been wonderful additions to the kinship. Aleena has done a wonderful job in the art of diplomacy and I'm sure her contributions to the kinship will continue on for a long.. long.. time. Arathul has also made great contributions to the kinship in the form of his roleplaying (which Aleena has also done), but also in his ideas and suggestions on many key issues for the kinship. Let's not forget though how both have become a part of our crazy family and have become people that I am glad to have gotten to become friends and family with. Thus, I am glad to announce Aleena and Arathul are promoted to there official full-fledged roles. Aleena shall join the Terendir, while Arathul shall join the Maethorthelyn.

I'd like to take the chance to give a personal thanks to the kinship, in being like a second family to me. And that even after the doors to Arda are closed years for now I hope we can all continue to keep in touch and be the crazy family we are. :)

Again, let me express my congratulations to Aleena and Arathul on their promotions and how they have become a great part of the kinship. Well, until next time.. Hopefully, when we are all in BETA. :P

Finally News!

Suilad mellyn!

I have an early Easter surprise!

Not only am I the hottest (male) ranger around these parts (Tristram eat your heart out). But, I have some wonderful news to share.

I know things have been slow since November, but unfortunately I have come to a busy time in my life and have had some hardships come my way. All that is in the past though.

For now though, let us get to the announcement! Mithrilcryer I hereby induct you as a Galadmel into our jolly, merry bunch of rogues known as the Rangers of Thintaur. Congratulations!

Mithrilcryer, has been described by Trist as... "He's precious, but a whiner... Mithrilcryer!" Which exemplifies Tristian humour to the 9th degree... *sighs*

Anywho, Mithrilcryer has been a welcome addition to the boards and has been an example of the quality members we extensively search for and accept based upon a difficult application process.. Namely Trist and Me throwing darts while blindfolded at various stacks of applications. Easy to say, we don't accept many applications.. I mean we are blindfolded!

All jests aside, Mithrilcryer, congratulations on now being a Galadmel! Ale is on the house tonight!

Namarie mellyn!

New Forums!

Suilad mellyn!

Yes, I have an early surprise for all of you, we have our new boards on our server!

I managed to finally figure out how to transfer everything over and etc. While it took me only a day to figure out how to do it, it unfortunately took me 2 days basically to transfer everything over. While making the forums was simple and painless. Since, the process of transferring our database (that the forums uses, sql based) from gamingsource to here.. Is a pain in the neck. Basically, I had to make my own dump script and then watch as it failed 10 times straight.. Because I accidentally would keep resetting it. But, now, whoa and behold.. Look at it!

And please keep in mind, due to me taking so long to transfer the database and how everything is and whatnot... Unfortunately, the past 10 most recent posts or so I believe are missing from it. However, I didn't want to redo all the work as I'm afraid I'd screw something up. Razz And to make sure all of you know about the change, me and Trist decided to change some of the graphics slightly. That way you can tell you are on the new boards! As there is no difference between them otherwise.

Here's the address:

New Forums

I will post another news item next week, since this one was so tiny. Wink

Well, namarie mellyn and see you all on the new forums!

Back From The Dead?

Suilad mellyn!

Haha! You thought our forums were dead! :P

In all seriousness, for those who don't know, we had experienced some difficulties with our forums.

The problem was created due to a misunderstanding on our host's part (GamingSource), but this was quickly remedied due to our friends over at LotroSource who did an excellent job in getting our forums up and running again.

Thus, the whole kinship is thankful for all their efforts in resolving the situation. In particular, Polleke of the LotroSource staff was very, very friendly and worked his tail off in getting the forums up and running again.

Due to some stress I had been feeling, I had made a few comments about LotroSource that were unwarranted and undeserved. I apologize to LotroSource and put the entire fault on my shoulders for such idiocy on my part. And I misunderstood the situation completely, which was my own doing as well.

The week that I made the rash comments on our temporary forums had been due to some... very tragic events at my job... mainly what had happened was some individuals at my work lost about $6000 of equipment. Due to this, many things had to change about my work and it was very, very hectic. Not to mention having the management call everyone a bunch of idiots and whatnot.

Due to all this, I have given my two weeks notice to that god-forsaken place, to concentrate more on university and my other job that I truly love.

Anywho, again I must stress how sorry I am to all those at LotroSource for my comments. I myself, feel that I sometimes don't represent the kinship that well. And despite all of the recent stress, I had no right to even say such things. I guess anger and frustration can weaken anyone's judgment and wisdom to some degree.

Now, as for other news. With our forums back up, I can finally announce some news.

Aleena & Thalian, you are both now apart of our forest family officially it seems, as I hereby announce you both of the role of Galadmel.

You both have been an example of the fine crop of quality members that this kinship has been known for having and finding. You could say this kinship is very lucky. ;)

Aleena, your beauty and charm has entranced many in the kinship, while your humour and glowing personality has made all of us feel more at home. You are a shining example of what makes this kinship so great.

Thalian, your skill at roleplaying and the art of writing continues to impress us all day after day. And like Aleena, you have been welcomed as a "kin" to our "kinship" quite warmly. I'll down an ale for you as well.

I must apologize for the delay in promoting you both, just I wanted to wait until the time was perfect. Mainly when I wasn't so busy. :P

However, there is more news to be told as well...

Amoriel & Erfaroth, you are both hereby promoted to your full chosen roles within the kinship.

I would announce what roles you are to take in this post... Unfortunately, it seems I have managed to misplace your original applications at the moment... Though, it shouldn't prove too difficult to find them.

Amoriel, you have been a welcome addition to the kinship and have made me laugh on more than one occasion. I'm sure that I speak on behalf of the kinship when I say that you are like a sister to us all.... in this very dysfunctional family... but it still is a family. :P

And Erfaroth, what would we do without your random threads about stuff you find on the Internet? Or your clever comments about Trist's romance with his camel.. or recently, your effort in creating a temporary forums for the kinship.

Cheers to our kin.
Let us celebrate!

On a personal note, to the kinship, I am very glad that I have gotten to know all of you for the past 2 years and 10 months.
You have shown me that a group dedicated to roleplaying and an MMORPG, can also be like another family for me.

Thank you. Until again, this is Tith, signing out.

Forums Down

Suilad mellyn!

As you probably can see, the forums are down momentarily. Apparently GamingSource made a boo-boo and thus ourforums are down.

I am trying my hardest to get the issue resolved with them, however it may take sometime, I am hoping that within one week the forums will be back up.

Apparently, what happened is that GamingSource changed domain names and thus the zone file for our forums basically became useless and the DNS wasn't updated. Meaning that our forums are on their server, but there is no link to them.

Another issue is that Gamingsource.Net whom is the host for our forums via LotroSource changed a few things on the server as well and thus the forums are down because of that as well.

Basically, it is just one huge hassle trying to get things back to normal.

In the future, I will be working with a few of the other council members to get our own forums established on our server, so that we won't have to deal with this sort of mess anymore.

I'm thinking that once the forums are back up, we'll start on this project. I'd do it myself, however I would prefer having our forum files, so we won't be starting from scratch. Also, I'm not the best with PHP myself.

Hopefully these issues can be resolved quickly, but please know that the kinship is not breaking up.

In the Navy...!

Suilad mellyn!

I know, I know. You are all wondering what the subject line of this news topic has to do with our kinship.. Well, besides the fact that it is a song that Trist seems to enjoy. :)

It is a topic that pertains to one of our fellow kin. I am of course talking about our resident alemaster, Nár.

Nár, of course as we all know is enjoying his stint in the Finnish Navy as a chef. And even though he is quite busy with such a task, he has managed to find enough time to brew up some of his famous ale and join us in the tavern for a round of merriment. :)

What stands out about Nár is his personality and his humour. Of course though, Nár has proven himself time and time again as a great friend and great kin of our kinship.

Thus, it gives me great honour, no the pleasure.. to garner the role of Thavryn to Nár.

Congratulations my friend.

On other topics, I will be doing a few changes to the site soon. Probably next week. Due to this, I encourage all of you to post any ideas, concerns or questions you have about our main site (www.thintaur.com) on the kinship forum.

Since, I am going to make a few changes (for the better of course) to our website.

Until again, this is Tith signing out. :)

Suilad mellyn!

I apologize for having no updates until now, but it has been a hectic period for us all. With finals, exams and other horrible headaches coming to an end. There should be more time now for the kinship to see a revival of sorts. In both kinship related activities and projects concerning our lovely website.

In recent news, it seems our dear Middle-Earth Online has altered its form somewhat. For one thing, the name change along with a few stylistic changes. Hopefully, these things are merely cosmetic and are not a sign of l337 players taking over Arda.

Yet, I am confident that MEO, err.. I mean LOTRO, will be a game that all of the kinship will have fun playing. Since, after all a good MMORPG is built around a solid community and group of friends. And those are two things that I believe will not diminish as time goes on. :)

Oh yes! Now on to the promotions. I would've done these two weeks ago actually. However, I had a horrible illness that caused me to postpone these promotions. Along with any updates I had planned for the site. Anywho, I would like to congratulate the promotion of Feanturi and Gáriand as full fledged members of the kinship.

Feanturi, the anti-Valar, shall make a fine addition to the Maethorthelyn. Whereas, our good friend from the cold north, Gáriand, shall be an excellent scout for the Terendir. Right now, I am all smiles now as today is a splendid day to see both these fine friends of ours be rewarded for their friendship with these new roles within the kinship.

So, let us open up a few casks of our fine ale, sing a few songs and celebrate! :)

With things slowing down for everyone in terms of real-life activities, I am certain that updates to the site and kinship related activities shall occur more frequently. Also, I believe that a certain kin of ours shall make a long waited appearance to our tavern, once again.

Until another time, this is Tith, signing off... :P

Long time, no see

To be quite honest, I still have no clue why I called this news item "Long time, no see". Perhaps it is mainly due to the fact, that there hasn't been much in the terms of news lately around here.

Well thankfully, things are gonna change around here. To start off the news, I would like all of you to greet our newest moderator! Yes, our very own Thurik Stormbringer! Thurik expressed great interest in helping the site and acting as a moderator of sorts... Be careful what you wish for. ;)

Thurik shall act as a moderator on the Middle-Earth discussion forums as well as assist me on moderating the kinship forums.

Also, good news seems to be in store for MEO, as recently Turbine decided to part ways with Vivendi and create the game themselves. Allowing for them (I believe) to be more faithful to Tolkien and his works. Then again, I could be wrong. :)

So, here are some links to the latest information on MEO:

Turbine related news can be found here.

Riddles in the dark, you say? The latest dv diary can be found here.

With MEO Beta fast approaching, I would encourage everyone to go to the MEO forums and start up a bit of activity. Since, it seems that Beta will be somewhat of an invitation-only deal.

And since Beta is approaching, a memberlist cleanup will be coming shortly as well.

As for our lovely website? I have just spent around 4 hours in total editing and making a few touchups to the website itself. Though as always, there are more changes that shall be done to the website. As well as a few surprises here and there. :)

Until another time, this is Tith, signing off... :P

Happenings

Today I greet you for the first time, in my new functioning role as Torandir. I am deeply honored to have been chosen for this role by the kinship. I joined this kinship almost 2 years ago and quickly realized that while I joined the kinship in hope of seeking a group of friends to discuss the world of Arda and to delve into the mysteries of her (via MEO), I instead found a family.

It is my hope that this sense of family and belonging still prospers in the kinship for years to come. A new vibrant energy has taken over the kinship as everyone is actively participating in various activities to help improve our family.

With MEO being delayed slightly, it seems that perhaps such an idea as an "MEO Pre-Game" might prove useful in helping the kinship bond in a virtual environment.

Other tasks such as automatic updating of member profiles', monthly kinship e-mails, kinship symbols and other topics are sure to come to the forefront in the next few weeks.

Even though I am the new Torandir, I still consider myself nothing more then just a simple-minded individual with one goal: to do whatever I can to help the kinship.

In the future, I am hoping as Torandir to address whatever issues or concerns the Terendir have. And to also bond with them so the transition from out of game and in-game may be smooth. But, most importantly, I hope to gain new friends and family from playing the role of Torandir.

Enough about me though. There are more important things to discuss. Today, is Finland's National Independence Day. A fitting time I feel, to garner the role of Galadmel to a fine individual whom I believe the kinship knows very well indeed.

Nár, I am pleased to announce that you are now "officially" a part of the kinship. Though in truth, ever since you graced our boards a few months ago, you have been apart of our family.

Nár is a peaceful and merry old Dwarf who is very keen on the crafting of many things. He's specialized in stonework and blacksmithing, but has also mastered the art of carpentry. He shows a special interest in the brewing of ale and other drinks as well, mainly ale of course.

So let us celebrate the coming of another brother into our forest abode. Hear hear to Nár!

In a few slight tidbits of news. The member's section of our website has been updated as another memberlist cleanup has taken place. Also, the member contact list has been updated as well.

You can view the updated memberlist here.

While, you can view the updated contact list here.

Again, I am eternally grateful for the support and many thanks that I have been given by the kinship. You truly are a family to me. Thank you. Until another time, this is Tith, signing off... :P

Contact List

While voting for the Torandir is underway, Tithrandil has been very busy with the first of many new features and activities due to grace the kinship. An up-to-date e-mail list has been compiled which includes the addresses of all our members and Galadmel which will undoubtedly make communication within the kinship a far simpler task.

The contact list has already been used effectively to help keep our rangers abrest of important events and will be used in the future to send out thintaur newsletters.

We will soon be implementing a feature which will allow members to update their own contact details. This feature may also make it possible for members to make updates to their own profiles a far quicker and easier task.

Thanks must be given to Tithrandil for the contact lists creation. Follow the following link to see the fruits of his work.

Eglerio Gáriand!

Suilad mellyn!

Today is election day here in the US and with this day comes a joyous piece of news.

No, they haven't decided that the Rangers of Thintaur are to be rulers of the world... Yet. ;)

But, today is a day worth celebrating, since a long time friend of ours has finally earned the distinction of becoming one of our fellow kin.

Gáriand Gaellyn, arise now as Galadmel Gáriand Gaellyn... Hmm... Too many G's. All joking aside, as all of you know, Gáriand has been a welcome presence on our boards and is a prolific poster. Whether or not he is prolific for all the right reasons has yet to be decided. :P

Let us all give a warm welcome to Gáriand and let us celebrate his coming to the kinship. For, another brother joins our family this day and that is something always worth celebrating.

Eglerio Gáriand!

A Joyous Day!

Suilad mellyn!

Ah, it is good to be doing some news again. Even though the last time I was here, I was known as Vaer. :P

All joking aside, today is bound to be a splendid day as I have a few important announcements. I can barely contain my excitement!

Today, I am overjoyed to announce that these following individuals have been garnered the role of Galadmel: Feanturi and Amoriel Telemnar! Congratulations to you both! :)

Well, I have one last announcement to make. Kalianah Tarjanian, Certa, Arendath and Aerogonar of Eriador are all hereby inducted to their respective positions. Congratulations!

Kalianah shall join the Ithryn, Aerogonar will join the Maethorthelyn while Certa and Arendath will make fine additions to the Terendir.

Let us all raise a toast to both new and old friend alike this day. For it is a most joyous day!

MeO Source Kinship of the Month

For those not yet aware, the Rangers of Thintaur are MeO Source's Kinship of the Month. This masterpiece, expertly constructed by Tristram needs no introduction. It's been the talk right across Middle-earth making frontpage news in the Daily Bree and Mirkwood Times. Here's what the critics have said.

"You let them publish that? I thought that interview was a joke! They'll think we're psychotic now...I barely comprehend it and I'm almost in it."
     - Alatariel Telrunya

"Well send it in man! it's not like we need any more members or anything."
     - Ilrahan

"Oh my... "
     - Lytenian

"It actually made sence at some point."
     - Gilder

Never let it be said that we lack a sense of humuor, albeit a stooge like one at times. Thanks to Tristram who put in the effort to make the interview possible and of course MeO Source for providing us with an opportunity to promote our kinship.

You can view the interview HERE

3 Inductions

Today I have the pleasure and honour of inducting three long serving Galadmel into the kinship who shall all take up the role of Maethorthelyn. Their service to the kinship as Galadmel has been exemplarary; setting a fine example to all aspiring members and proving beyond doubt their right to be a Ranger of Thintaur.

Thurik is only our second dwarf to grace our kinship and despite rumuors that we've only kept him around to fix Dealin's house, he has brought a unique and welcoming presence to our boards that shall now seem lacking without him.

Where one may be found the other is always nearby. I'm sure it comes as no surprise that the day of Thurik's induction shall also be shared by the resplendent Radella, whose charm and beauty has enchanted us all from the first moment she entered our realm. Though don't be fooled, her presence amongst the Maethorthelyn shall be a better reason than most for our enemies to stray not into our borders.

The third to be inducted and take up the role of the Maethothelyn with the all the grace and splendour of the firstborn, is Ka'Leglath, son of Hordir. Ka'Leglath's efforts to promote Thintaur and foster enduring relationships with other kinships, has been meritorious and has earned the thanks and admiration of all our members.

In these three no finer example has been set for our aspiring rangers. Ka'Leglath, Radella and Thurik your place amongst us has long been in waiting. Welcome to the kinship.

New Galadmel

I return to the news page a month since my last visit to announce the long overdue induction of three promising and deserving Galadmel. Certa, Arendath and Aerogonar all first visited our boards within weeks of each other, some three months ago. Patience is truly a virtue they have in strong supply to couple their demonstrated commitment to the kinship. Since their arrival they have all become an active and appreciated part of our community and I eagerly anticipate the future of Thintaur with Certa, Arendath and Aerogonar amongst us.

Kalianah Tarjanian

With the boards being so active of late and our presence on the official forums stronger than it has been for some time, the recent influx of applications has come as no suprise. The kinship finds itself the home to many promising aspiring members, the first of which to join the Galadmel is Kalianah Tarjanian. Perhaps better known as Elven Jess, she is a well known and much admired participant on the official roleplaying forums and has quickly become a favoured character upon our own boards.

As for Kalianah Tarjanian herself, she's an elf with raven black hair and violet eyes. She often seems mute to many, content to sit back and obtain what knowledge is offered to her by the world around. She is a herbalist and delights in making potions of sorts, with both the intent to heal and kill. Her age is unknown and little know of her past for none have become close enough to extract it. Otherwise known as Kirrah to strangers, she hopes to take up the role of the Ithryn in aid of the forest and kinship alike. Congratulations Kalianah and welcome to the kinship.

Allegiance of Nature

Recent discussions regarding the Messengers of Arda have been quite a talking point within our kinship for some time now. To those unfamiliar with the Messengers of Arda, their goal is to help all citizens learn of news from across Middle Earth, and to share local news as far as they can carry it. Any citizen needing to send a letter home to their kin; a package to a far-away location; or who has need of a courier service for any reason - need only look to them. Through both their Kinship and The Arda Post, they aim to be a one-stop source for announcing and organizing server-wide Player Run Events.

The esteemable Amalua approached me several weeks ago regarding an alliance between our two kinships. Although at this stage it is the policy of the kinship to refrain from entering into any alliances, especially pre-game, save for special circumstances, we were open to the possibility of a something similar. After many discussions both within the kinship and with the very cooperative Amalua, I am happy to announce the forming of an Allegiance of Nature with the Messengers of Arda. Although not an alliance in the traditional sense, it signifies the bond of friendship that now exists between our two kinships and is a clear and definite indication of our intentions to further develop these bonds of friendship in the future.

We consider Amalua and the Messengers of Arda a credit to the MeO communicty and hope that we can be of aid to them when they most need it.

Website Update

Well, it has been a while hasn't it? But, I am happy to make a return to the news page by announcing that I have updated two projects of mine that unfortunately have been neglected for a while. The two projects that I am referring to are of course the screenshots and the concept art pages on our wonderful site.

I originally made these sometime last year and due to certain circumstances was unable to update them until now. In the months to come I hope to make additions to the site as well as a few needed updates (*coughs*the wallpaper section *coughs*).

To view the new and improved Screenshots section click here.

To view the updated Concept Art section (that is a work in progress), please click here.

Enjoy my fellow kin. Until again, namarie!

Of Things To Come

I return to the newspage with a renewed vigour and enthusiasm after a pronlonged period of absence. Much has happened since I last passed this way and it has taken some time to bring myself up to speed. However, the task has been made significantly easier by the many warming welcomes from the rangers amongst whom I see a few new faces. The fine efforts of all those who have kept the kinship flourishing these last few months are to be commended. I dare not start to list names for the tail end of it would roll beyond sight, although I would like to officially congratulate Ilrahan on his appointment to the position of Gwador. I cannot think of anyone more deserving.

It's pleasing to see our roleplaying forums are so active, thanks to the admirable efforts of the many gifted roleplayers who frequently visit our boards, both Rangers and visitors alike. If you have not noted the many interesting and engaging stories that are taking place at the moment, I strongly urge you to spare a few minutes to the tavern.

The members and members profile page's have gone through a slight update with several other pages soon to follow. The task of maintaining the sight is an ongoing one, which shall not be left unattended. We shall soon look to add many of our rangers profiles to the website, so if you haven't written one yet, or feel like your existing one needs some polishing now would be a good time to do it.

We can also look forward to the construction of a Thintaur timeline, the product of Naic-Rangers ingenuity. This will give a unique insight into the development of this kinship through its many years of existance.

Happenings

I greet you today in my new function a Gwador and it is a bit unnerving. I always like to work on projects in the background, only showing my face when I feel something is going wrong. It seems now I must try to become a more visible component of the Rangers of Thintaur and that is something that won’t come easy for me. Nevertheless I see what I can do, and you can all feel free to PM me you advice. (Just for the record, other then me trying to be more involved, there will hardly be any changes to the way this place is run.)

And now I would like to move on to a a few long overdue announcements. I would like you all to welcome Radella, Rüthran and Thurik Stormbringer as official Galadmel. I think we can all acknowledge their devotion to our group and in truth, should have been made Galadmel much sooner. Even though they are already fully integrated, I would like to officially welcome them to Thintaur.

Moving on to yet another announcement. I would like to announce that following people are hereby inducted into the official membersgroup. Ossian, Carae Ahvien/Alindwe, Holdwine and Kiodo Calenaur.
For some this might be fast and for others this might be slow, but in truth I felt like those that I mentioned have proven themselves to be valuable assets to this House (note: word ‘kinship’ avoided out of respect for Ossian since this announcement concerns him ;) ). Also I have no idea which of them has been here the longest :P.
I would like to thank these souls for sticking with us for as long as they have even in the absence of Tar-Telperien. Congratulations, you are now all level-up! :D Oh and I have no idea which roles you want, so until you PM me with that information you’ll still see Galadmel under your name.

Next up is the unveiling of the new poetry section. It’s a bit empty now, but I expect all of you to contribute :P. And you can be sure I’ll be using anything on the forums that looks like poetry, in fact I already did ;). For now you can only reach it from the news-page and the front-page (see the left nav-bar), because I don’t have the time to update all the pages right now, but I’ll see to it that it's done as soon as possible.
I’m not so great with html, and I’m even worse with art, so if you have a suggestion about how to make the section more visually appealing let me know.

Also some time ago I uploaded a new piece a art that Kiodo made. Here’s a sample:
Klik the picture for a larger view.
If you have any art please mail/PM it to me so I can add it.

Well that was it for today. I’m swamped with work, so don’t expect me to be around much, but if you have a question of comment, just PM me and I get back to you soon.
Have a great day!

March 28
5th anniversary

Tar-Telperien founded the rangers of Thintaur on march 28th 1999. I don’t know the circumstances under which he made that decision, but I think we can all agree that it was a good thing he did what he did.

Now 5 years, multiple websites and a large number of members later, the rangers of Thinaur are still thriving and there aren’t any signs of us slowing down.

In the absence of Tar I would like to thank all the members for their commitment, even those that have not been with us very long. You’re presence and involvement is very much appreciated.

I hope Tar will make an appearance today, but since his real life is very busy at the moment I have my doubts. However I would like to thank him especially, for making it possible for all of us to hang out with such a wonderful group of people.

And on a more personal note I would like to say that since the day I have been connected to the internet, I have never met a more friendly and open community as the one we have created here. *wipes away a tear* I love you guys! ;)

Now, as is customary with these sorts of occasions, we will all go over to Dealin’s house for cake and refreshments. :D

New Thintaur art section

Well things are moving along at a steady pace, and as a new day dawns a new art section arives.

This new section will contain any drawing, foto etc that is created (or put together) and submitted by members of the kinship. At the moment there is not a lot to see, but hopefully some of you will be able to change that. So if you have anything that you think might be appropriate, send it in. I think you all know the adress by now.

You can get to the art section by clicking the link in the navigation bar to the left or click here.

I would also like to point out the new 'comment' link at the bottom right corner of the newspost. Clicking that link will take you directly to the thread that is related to this newspost. So try it out. ;)

New Forum Board & Congrats!

Firstly, I have just created an interesting thing, since most of you don't come to the news page anymore, I decided to post all news topics on a special read-only/reply-only forum. Basically it allows everyone to see all of the updates without going to here, as well as allowing members to voice their opinion about a news item.

Ah, I love this news here! I am very pleased to announce this... I can't hardly wait..

Taralinde, Dwaelf the Wanderer, Orothar and Naic... All of you are hereby promoted! Congratulations my friends! :)

Taralinde, Dwaelf and Naic shall join the Rangers as Terendir. While Orothar will be a part of the Thavryn. A place we are lacking in at the moment.

Changes are coming my friends. Look to the future as I always say. For many other surprises shall come shortly.

Well, namarie mellyn! Until next time.

Memberlist Changes

Well, I am glad to announce some very good news.. We have two new Galadmel! Holdwine and Estel, allow me to congratulate you and be among the first to formally welcome you into our kinship. :)

Change is in the air and thus our kinship must grow to meet these new challenges. As Ilrahan has said earlier, the memberlist is undergoing a transformation. However as small as this task seems, it is ending up in the possibility of some changes in the organization of the kinship. The details of this matter will be discussed in-depth later. For now let us congratulate and welcome Holdwine and Estel!

One small note, you can see the new memberlist here.

Namarie mellyn!

Changes

Work is progressing on the website and we should all thank Tristram for that. I'm really loving the new colors, but maybe that's just because it's a change from the old style ;) A lot of the pages have not yet been updated and there are still dead links and pictures. If you see anything on the site that needs changing let us know at rangers@thintaur.com.

The next item on the agenda is the memberlist. It's time to once again cut out the inactive members and add some new ones (I'll let one of the others make the anouncement on new members). This will also be a great opportunity for people to send in new applications for galadmel positions.

Ok, everyone enjoy the day and give some feedback about the changes to the site on the forum.

Return

As you must have noticed, since you are looking at it, the website is back up. Everything should be working except for the real forums, but if you notice anything wrong mail either Tar-Telperien or me and we'll try to fix it right away.

For those of you who still don't know, Tar left for a job in early January, but he has returned today and should be in contact on the forum soon. Don't pester him too much since he's very tired ;-).

Most of the effort of the kinship will for a while be directed at the website, trying to get everything back the way it was and adding little things along the way. I thank all members that are still around and that have shown their dedication during this little bump in the road, but I must especially thank Alatariel for making it possible for getting the site back up at such a great host. I think I speak for the entire kinship when I say that we owe you a lot. *gives Alatariela big hug*

Tithrandil is working on the forums and hopefully he'll have them back up soon, but until then use the temp forum. I'll see what I can do about moving threads once the new forum is up.

And I just want to a add a big 'Welcome back!' to Tar-Telperien.

Three new Galadmel

Today I'm pleased to introduce three new rangers to the kinship who join the Galadmel in their duties. Warialasky is a master of lore who after hearing word of both the destruction of his village and rumuors of the Rangers of Thintaur, has made the journey to join us. He seeks neither fame nor glory but to serve as a humble protector of the forest.

Imrahil Arato is a tall elf, with green eyes and brown hair who dresses in dark green and is rarely seen without his black cloak to help him slip into the night. Imrahil was born on the sea and is the product of an intriguing and complex history that I encourage you all to take a look at.

Ka'Leglath is one who can come across as hostile towards strangers, but those that get to know him discover a rich sense of humuor and longing for fun. As one who enjoys the simple act of sitting by a quiet river bank to study ancient scrolls with a lit pip and good company he also knows the value of battle. Rarely is he seen without his dwarven armour, elven bow and longswor crafted in the real oof Gondor.

I welcome you three to the kinship.

December 15
Ossian Joins Us

Let me introduce an old friend and fabled tavern dweller, Ossian, Bard of the Royal House of Telcontar, self proclaimed Duelist Extraordinaire and all around Drunken-Rabble-rouser (I can at least vouch for the latter). Today it is with great honour that I welcome Ossian into the kinship as one of the Galadmel. I'm sure Ilrahan, Elronin and our usual tavern dwellers will be very appreciative for another drinking partner and such a famous one at that ;) I encourage you all to make yourself known to the master bard and perhaps one day you may find yourself weaved into one of his tales.

Four New Galadmel

Born in a small town along the outskirts of Esgaroth, Monodin grew up hearing the tales of heros and dragons. After loosing both parents by the time he was 15, he was forced to the life of a mercenary, quickly becoming quite a skilled archer and swordsmen. Before darker path of light took claim to him, Monodin stumbled upon the Rangers of Thintaur and with a humble heart and kindly soul has asked to join our little band of Rangers, going now by the name of Aramus. He is of course, one of the original members of this kinship, returned after a long absence to take up the journey once more, beginning as one of the Galadmel.

Aramus is not the only new Galadmel to join us this fine day. Kiodo Calenaur too has decided to find a home amongst us. He wears a pitch black cloak over a black, skintight leather tunic and pants. He is easily recognised by the painted metal emblem of a green flame across his torso, headband and gauntlets. He is a lean, mild mannered young elf; polite, quiet and ginger in his movements. When the time calls for it though, you can rest assured he shall stand ready with a steel grimace and twin sabers at ready.

Aramus and Kiodo Calenaur, we welcome you to the kinship.

Aquinas Eridani is Inducted

It frightens me to dwell upon the consequences of my actions today, for this morning I proudly (if not with an overwhelming sense of caution) induct Aquinas Eridani into the kinship as one of the Terendir. Better known as Medeski, the third and final member of the infamous mirkwood stooges, whose now united sillyhood is at last completely embedded into this kinship!

Medeski spent a few months as a friend to the kinship before finally deciding he wished to join us. Such careful consideration was just the first sign of many indicating the quality of character Medeski possesses. As an active part of our boards and a much liked character of the kinship, its pleasing to see Thintaur continue to attract such fine Rangers. Congratulations Aquinas Eridani.

Ryil Joins Us

Ryil Galad is a familiar face to those that frequent the official rp boards and has now become a recognisable figure on our own boards. Slightly darker skin than the normal elf, though hardly tanned he is far from pale as most Elves were in his time. Cloudy Green eyes embellish his elven face, accompanied by short, unorthodox hair. A tough build, though not built to take too much hand to hand combat and overly tall for his kind, standing about 6'3. Ryil's is a long and interesting tale, which I recommend all take the time to read. With great honour do I welcome Ryil into the kinship as one of the Galadmel.

- Tar-Telperien

November 16
Celest Joins Us

Celest is a very quiet and thoughtful being, with much to say behind a quite dispotition. She is blessed with fair skin, wavy chestnut hair and hazel eyes and spends much of her time observing others and things around her, noticing emotions, faces, and conversations. Without a home to call her own and little knowledge of her past, she makes do from town to town as best she can. Today though, we can proudly call her one of our own as we welcome her into the kinship as one of the Galadmel. Welcome to Thintaur Celest!

- Tar-Telperien

November 12
Dwaelf the Wanderer

Today the Galadmel receive a familiar face amongs them, that of Dwaelf the Wanderer. Although Dwaelf has an elven appearance, he is rather shorter and more sturdily built than elves are generally. Marked by fair hair with a reddish tint, and eyes blue, Dwaelf leaves behind him a mysterious past which he is reluctant to share with any. Both Dwaelf's parents died as a result of orcish incursions, and this has fired him with a desire for revenge. However, wisdom and self-control have combined to keep him alive even though he has spent considerable time wandering Middle-Earth alone. For some time has has been seeking a kinship who will accept him and welcome his courage, commitment and integrity. Today that search is over. Welcome to Thintaur Dwaelf.

- Tar-Telperien

November 9
Valar is Inducted

Few have awaited induction into this kinship longer than Valar Pierce and none have been more deserving. It has been a pleasure to watch Valar over the last few months, develop and evolve into a fine Ranger to which Thintaur can be proud to call its own. Aside from making fun of Tithrandil whenever the opportunity presents itself, he has been influential in the success of our roleplaying boards, the Thintaur Tavern, being involved in countless numbers of tales with every post seeming to improve upon the last. I look forward to many bright days ahead with Valar amongst us and many more wondefuly woven tales on our boards. Congratulations Valar Pierce.

November 5
Elithril Joins Us

Some time ago, a quiet woman, with astounding looks came into our humble abode, seeking to become one of us. Her name is Elithril and today I am proud to appoint her as one of the Galadmel. Her angelic face is embellished with a pair of penetarting chestnut eyes. A quick thinker and a quicker mover; in battle she prefer to wield light blades and bows, carrying little armour at the best of times. Dangerous to our enemies, a true ally to her friends, we are glad to have you with us. Welcome to the kinship Elithril!

- Tar-Telperien

October 27
Merego Joins Us

Today i'd like to introduce the Merego Hardbuttle (Orothar) as one of the Galadmel. This brave little hobbit has found his way to Mirkwood after an odd set of circumstances sent him out of the Shire. At first sight Merego is a nervous fellow, quite hungry, desparate, and all together pathetic looking. He drags a bag of woodworking tools behind him that have clearly been used for other purposes (like gathering food, digging, etc etc). They aren't in great shape, but he carries them like old friends. Generally a figity guy (or he will be until he feels more at home), friendly, but not as guillable and trusting as most hobbits tend to be. We hope you find a home within Mirkwood amongst us for many years to come. Welcome to the kinship Merego.

Congratulations William Haven

With great pleasure and delight do I today announce the induction of William Haven into the kinship as one of the Maethortheyln. Better known around the boards as Tristram, infamous member of the Mirkwood stooges and a treasure trove of ideas and suggestions. Indeed, the newly established alliance system is a product of his invention.

The Rangers of Thintaur first met Tristram some three or four years ago. He was at that point in time, the noble leader of Guardian Order. It was a suprise of the greatest satisfaction to see him return along with the news that Middle-earth online was to be put into the hands of a third dev team. Since then Tristram has become an integral and much appreicated part of this kinship, thoroughly deserving of his role within the kinship as one of the Maethorthelyn. Tristram's commitment, activity and input into the Rangers has been second to none. Congratulations Tristram, perhaps with a bit of luck we may find the Black Arrow Together!

October 17
Alatariel Joins the Ithryn

Some know her as Lini, while others who dwell closer to home have come to call her Alatariel Telrunya. A healer of some talent with an adventurous and bold spirit. Her patience has been exemplary, her commitment to the kinship admirable, her personality and character adorable (if not somewhat unpredictable and scary at times :D). Both as a favoured guest and then as one of the Galadmel, she has become an integeral part of the kinship over the last few months and well deserving of a role within the Ithryn. It is with great pleasure and honour that I formally induct Alatariel, our favourite "Dwarf-maid in disguise" / heartbreaker, into the kinship. Congratulations Alatariel, I hope to see your face within these forests for many years to come.
